Terms of Service

TipLink lets fans send tips to creators over Mobile Money. A fan opens a creator's TipLink page, chooses an amount, and pays with MTN MoMo or Airtel Money through our payment provider, Nylon Pay. These terms apply to both creators and the people who tip them.

Your wallet, and how we hold funds. Tips do not go straight to a creator's Mobile Money number. Once a tip clears, the creator's share is credited to a TipLink wallet balance and held by TipLink in a pooled provider account until the creator withdraws it. This means TipLink holds creator funds between collection and withdrawal. Your balance is calculated from the tips that actually cleared, and it is owed to you in full, subject to the withdrawal terms below. We do not pay interest on a balance, and a balance is not a bank deposit.

Fees on tips. A flat 5% is deducted from each tip — 4% covering the payment provider's charge and 1% as the TipLink platform fee. The creator receives the remaining 95%. A fan may optionally choose to cover this so the creator receives the full amount they intended to send. Fees are shown before a tip is confirmed, and are calculated by us — never sent by the payer's device.

Withdrawals. A creator may withdraw once their balance reaches 7,000 UGX. A withdrawal pays out the whole balance in a single transfer, and a flat 2,000 UGX Mobile Money transfer charge is deducted from it — so a withdrawal at the 7,000 UGX minimum results in 5,000 UGX arriving on the creator's Mobile Money number. The minimum exists because 5,000 UGX is the smallest payout our provider will send. Withdrawals go only to a Mobile Money number the creator has added and verified, and typically arrive within minutes. If a payout fails, the balance is restored to the wallet and can be withdrawn again.

Refunds. If a tip cannot be collected, the payer is not charged. If a collected tip is later reversed by the network or the provider, we may reverse the corresponding credit to the creator's balance. Tips are otherwise final — a tip is a voluntary payment, not a purchase, and it does not entitle the payer to goods, services, or a refund on request.

Creator accounts. You must be at least 18 and give accurate details, including a Mobile Money number you control. You are responsible for what appears on your TipLink page and for any tax due on what you earn. One person may not claim a username in order to impersonate someone else.

Acceptable use. TipLink may suspend or close any page, withhold a withdrawal, or reverse a balance where we reasonably believe it is being used for fraud, money laundering, impersonation, or other unlawful activity, or to collect money on a false premise. Where we withhold funds we will tell you why, unless the law prevents us.

Privacy. We never show a fan's full phone number to a creator, and we never show a creator's payout number to a fan. See our Privacy Policy for what we store and why.

No warranty. The service is provided "as is". Mobile Money availability depends on the networks (MTN, Airtel) and on our provider, and we cannot guarantee that a collection or a payout will complete at any particular time.

Changes. We may update these terms as the product changes. If we change the fees or the withdrawal terms, the version on this page at the time of your transaction is the one that applies to it.
